Vision – SOT Events

We know that multiple problems afflict all cultures and societies including war, greed, poverty, disease, nationalism, unemployment, sectarianism, terrorism and issues of social justice. Embracing a more optimistic and aspirational vision, Beaconhouse dares to imagine a world of the future in which we may all flourish as unique individuals held together by the tapestries of our cultures, traditions and conjoined history. Through developing our intellectual, emotional and social competencies, we will understand the global phenomena that both afflict us and drive us to create a better world.

A World of Tomorrow hopes to provide a setting to deepen our social discourse by introducing inspirational new ideas. This unique conference will bring together members of the public with leading thinkers from Pakistan and around the world to discuss emerging issues within contemporary societies and how these may contribute to a better future for our children and their children.

SOT Events started as a conference series in the year 2000, organised by Beaconhouse as part of its ongoing commitment to its social responsibility. Over the years, the series has evolved and grown, featuring educators, futurists, technologists & scientists, environmentalists, political & business leaders, performing & visual artists, writers & poets, journalists & filmmakers, social activists and others from around the world.

Since then, four major public events have been successfully held in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, featuring over 500 speakers from around the world who shared new ideas and experiences with audiences of tens of thousands of people from all cross-sections of society. The 11th edition of SOT Events, being the first, fully-virtual conference, featured over 60 international thought leaders in 22 live sessions viewed by online audiences in over 70 countries.

SOT Events are organised and hosted by Beaconhouse, one of the largest independent school networks in the world. Beaconhouse traces its roots to the Les Anges Montessori Academy, founded in Lahore, Pakistan, in Nov 1975 with 19 children. Now in its 45th year, the Beaconhouse network educates over 315,000 students in Pakistan, the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia in company-owned schools and those operated by network associates. Beaconhouse also operates 49 public schools for the Government of the Punjab as part of its CSR.

Beaconhouse is a learning organisation that takes pride in its past while nurturing a culture of continuous professional development, self-review and reinvention. It is this quest that drives all SOT Events.
